Donna's '57

Last November, 2014, I went to the Sam Pack Auction for 3 days. First 2 days I did nothing but look closely at 3 1957 Chevy convertibles: one was yellow, one was black, and one was dusk pearl. They were all beautiful cars, but the best of the bunch was the “Dusk Pearl”, which was the correct shade of a rarely seen color. This was the perfect car for my wife so I bid on the car. A few of our friends from the DACC were there: Duffy Oyster and Carl Mitcham were rooting with us. We won the car!!

The car had a previous full restoration about 15 years ago. Under the hood was a 283 V8, 2 speed power glide transmission, live rear axle with leaf springs, independent front suspension, power brakes, and all new original glass. During the restoration an AM/FM radio with cassette was installed, but the original Wonderbar radio was included. Also, it was fitted with a continental kit, which I really like, but the original rear bumper that was re-chromed was included.

I bought new radial wide whites, replaced the brakes with manual brakes, and with the help of Terry Sealock and parts from Steve Pratt improved the power steering.

When Donna gets behind the wheel she has seat belts, mirrors on all sides, and finds it safe and easy to drive. And she really likes to drive!!
