HAD TO HAVE A '55!
From my early days in high school, I have always been infatuated with cars. It seems I have always been pursuing that dream car that I could transform into a truly unique vehicle. After many years of raising kids and sending them through various colleges, I decided to indulge in the collector car hobby.
About 5 years ago I started the search. Chevy was the goal and I looked at many Camaros, Chevelles, Corvettes and older Classics. I have always loved the '55 Chevy, so I decided that I would narrow my search to that. Three years ago I was attending a Super Chevy Show in Ennis and saw a '55 for sale in the Car Corral. After a few months of going back and forth on price, I purchased the '55 Chevy that I now drive!
I purchased the car from a broker, so I took his word for what the car had been through. It's not perfect, but it sure is fun to drive and show. It has had a frame off restoration, a 350 crate motor that is bored with a mild cam, holley 4 barrel, headers, Turbo 350 tranny with a shift kit and a B&M shifter. All of this goes through a Ford 9" rear end with 4:11 gears.
I have had the car for 3 years and continue to add to the unfinished restoration while still driving the car as often as I can.
I have to thank my wife for allowing me to be a 'car nut' and keeping this Classic Chevy alive!
